Health and Safety

ATP recognises that it has a legal and moral duty of care for the health, safety and welfare of our employees and those that may be affected by our activities.
Health and safety is at the top of our agenda and we continually strive to prevent work related injuries and the ill-health of our employees and anyone associated with our activities, whilst also improving their wellbeing.

ATP maintains clearly defined management systems, interfaces and responsibilities that are understood and accepted by all. Maintaining effective oversight and scrutiny processes, carried out with independence and impartiality, we comply with corporative, legislative and other requirements and we always seek further improvements.

It is imperative that through the management and development of our employees, providing them with the necessary competence and understanding of their roles and responsibilities through training and supervision, we enable them to proactively contribute to the achievement of our objectives and the development of our professional risk and safety management culture.

Respect for people is innate within our company. We take into full consideration the needs and circumstances of all our employees, clients, colleagues and those we work with. We provide a safe working environment in which employees can continue their personal development and build a culture in which ethical business practice thrives.

We recognise that to continue tackling health risks in construction, both physical and mental, we must first raise awareness amongst our staff, and offer support and guidance towards maintaining an environment free of work-related ill-health.

The ATP occupational health team aims to:

  • Educate employees and employers in the risks to health arising from work and other factors
  • Influence the attitudes and behaviour of employees and employers in relation to the promotion of health and wellbeing

Maintaining the mental health of employees is a key part of our occupational health strategy. In addition to health surveillance we place a particular focus on raising awareness of the importance of maintaining good mental health.

Our sustainable business strategy seeks to ensure ongoing environmental, social and business sustainability.

We are aware of the effects that our activities can have on the environment and accept responsibility for future generations by limiting our impact. We continually seek to be as socially and environmentally responsible as possible, maximising opportunities for enhancement and mitigating adverse impacts on the environment and society more generally.

As a company, we:

  1. Reduce our carbon emissions year on year by focusing on resource efficiency (energy, waste, water) across our activities, and seeking carbon reductions within our construction operations by increasing the commitment of our supply chain to lower carbon solutions.
  2. Recognise the importance of continually improving the energy efficiency of our activities, goods and services through a more sustainable use of electricity and fuel. This includes the promotion of alternative specifications and technologies to influence energy efficiency in the structures we design and build, and the use of more energy-efficient methods of transportation.
  3. Play our part in the prevention of overall habitat and species loss, habitat fragmentation and disturbance by protecting and enhancing the ecosystems affected by our activities.
  4. Reduce the amount of waste we produce from our activities, with a particular focus on the prevention of construction, demolition and excavation waste sent to landfill.
  5. Commit to eliminating the unnecessary and improper use of water.

Our offices and sites work actively to become part of the communities in which they work. We actively support charities and causes, both locally and nationally. Our aim is to add value to our society, inspire others and support colleagues, clients and suppliers in their own efforts to share time, skills and resources in their chosen way.

It is important that we maintain information, communication, and technology systems that meet the changing needs of a 21st Century construction company.  We must maintain a systematic approach to improving business performance, by managing and optimising our activities, to make our processes more effective, more efficient and more capable of adapting to an ever-changing business environment.

We believe that our activities and conduct will deliver our sustainable business strategy.

ATP believes that integrity is of paramount importance and it is a core value to the company. We expect all employees, and those who work closely with us, to behave with integrity at all times.
